Comedy set in Hungary at the turn of the century. Kelepey, a poor medical student, takes a room at a bordello where he is a favourite among the girls. This idyllic existence continues for some time until the day Kelepey's widowed mother visits her son at what she assumes is a respectable boarding house.

1978 Hungarian Film Critics’ Awards – Best Actress Award (Georgiana Tarjan)

Károly Makk (1925-2017) was acclaimed Hungarian director and screenwriter. Makk was born in the town of Berettyóújfalu, in eastern Hungary, where his father, Kálmán, owned a cinema, which gave his son the chance to watch many movies. His parents, who like many Hungarians had lost their business after the country came under Soviet rule, initially intended him to become an engineer, a common profession on his mother’s side of the family. Instead, he entered the nationalised film industry, working his way up from assistant to screenwriter and director. Károly Makk was distinguished and awarded filmmaker who created memorable stories about life under a totalitarian regime, which were shown around the world.
