World War II, the Jews living in Warsaw are separated from the rest of the city and crowded into the ghetto. A Jewish doctor, Henryk Goldszmit, known as Janusz Korczak, runs an orphanage, with difficulty gaining funds to support his pupils. There is true democracy at home, children are taken seriously, they together prepare a play about dying based on Rabindranatha Tagore’s drama. Korczak knows that they will not survive the war and believes that children should become accustomed to death. During the liquidation of the ghetto, the doctor and his pupils are transported to Treblinka. According to Steven Spielberg words, Korczak is the most important European about the Holocaust.
