DESCRIPTION

Based on Master’s Manuscript from Mikhail Bulhakov novel Master and  Margaret. Pilate's is convinced of the innocence of Jeshua-Ha- Notsri and would like to set him free. Under pressure, he pronounces a verdict against his own judgment. The filmmaker presents biblical history in contemporary Germany. During the communist era in Poland Pilate and Other was allowed to be distributed only in small, arthouse cinemas. It was forbidden to publish reviews, discussions and articles about the film. 


DIRECTOR
Andrzej Wajda (1926-2016) He is the most prominent filmmaker in Poland. He is considered one of the world's most renowned filmmakers, whose works chronicled his native country's political and social evolution and dealt with the myths of Polish national identity offering insightful analyses of the universal element of the Polish experience – the struggle to maintain dignity under the most trying circumstances. Four of his movies have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film: The Promised Land (1975), The Maids of Wilko (1979), Man of Iron (1981) and Katyń (2007). Honored with numerous prizes, distinctions and orders all over the world. He won an honorary Oscar in 2000 and an honorary Golden Bear in 2006 at the Berlin Film Festival. Andrzej Wajda founded The Japanese Centre of Art and Technology in Kraków in 1994. In 2002 he founded and led his own film school – Wajda School & Studio
