“Loving Vincent” is unique because Vincent Van Gogh was exceptional. The film is an experimental animated biographical drama about the life of the painter Vincent van Gogh, especially about the circumstances of his death. The painter wrote in one of his last letters: “Only our images can speak for us”. Van Gogh’s art told his story. This is the first fully animated feature film to be made. The film, written and directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, is a Polish production financed by the Polish Film Institute, and partly by the Kickstarter campaign. Each of the 65,000 frames of the film is an oil painting on canvas, using the same technique as Van Gogh, created by a team of 125 painters.
